Novatek’s range of beam-type drill rigs provide a very cost-effective and simple system for the drilling stope blastholes. The drill feeds mount onto and move along beams fitted to temporary or permanent support. The design is modular and low mass; components can be stored in the working area and rapidly assembled by hand. The system can be supplied with either hydropowered or pneumatic drill feeds. • More accurate drilling of blastholes means improved hanging and foot wall control, panel shape and better advances per blast. • 50% Faster drilling means lower drill operating costs and improved reliability. • Operators are located behind the machine – away from the statistically highest rockfall and rockburst zone. Controls are located at the rear of the feed. • Less physically demanding on drill operators, plus lower exposure to noise and vibration. • Energy usage is reduced by more efficient drilling. • Equipment is simple and robust; providing more accurate and faster drilling without restricting the flexibility of mining operations. The rigs are modular, simple and light to transport and erect. • Roll in the reef, uneven footwall and hanging conditions can easily be accommodated.

HYDROPOWERED or WATER ROCKDRILL
Novatek water rockdrills are used for drilling of blastholes and roofbolt holes. Drilling rates are much higher than pneumatic drills and ability in fractured rock is excellent due to the independent rotation system. Energy usage is typically 80% less than pneumatic drills. • Available to suit a range of operating pressures. • Lightweight and ergonomic; able to be operated by a single person. • Use as a jackdrill (with a thrustleg) or on a drill feed. May be remote operated for feed use. • Able to use 22 mm drillsteel (up to 1.5 m length) or 25 mm drillsteels. • Able to recirculate up to 75% of exhaust water (with additional hose). • In production use since 1991.

HYDROPOWERED CHAINSAW
The Novatek hydropowered chainsaw uses a Cheetah frame, blade and chain, powered by a Novatek pelton motor and lubrication system. It is designed for cutting of timber supports in working areas equipped with hydropower. The Novatek-powered chainsaw has the following features: • It incorporates the advantages of the Cheetah saw, namely: • Well established in the industry. • Self-levelling frame. • Patented automatic chain tensioning achieved by simply releasing and retightening a single nut, no operator adjustment is required. • Light weight and portability. • Standard tool steel or optional tungsten carbide tipped chain. • Direct injection of chain lube. The Novatek lubricator automatically applies chain lubrication during each cut. • The Novatek pelton motor provides a simple and powerful drive for quick cutting and water flushing of woodchips. • The motor is controlled via a simple trigger valve based on a proven robust design incorporating a safety catch – operated with one hand while the other hand is used to feed the saw into the cut. • Heavy duty cage encloses all components and hoses, allowing the saw to withstand harsh mining conditions.
